Forgotten Bakery Wins Best Bagel in Sacramento at Jewish Food Faire

Oct, 12 2025

This year’s Jewish Food Faire hosted Sacramento’s first-ever Best Bagel Competition, bringing together local bakeries and bagel makers including Better Half Bagel, Battin’s Bagel Bike, The Posh Bagel, Christian Aiello, and Toasted. Each competitor showcased their own take on what makes a great bagel.

We’re proud to share that The Forgotten Bakery earned three major awards — along with the People’s Choice recognition from attendees:

Awards Received

• Overall Champion — Sacramento’s Best Bagel

• Best Specialty Bagel Sandwich

• Most Creative Bagel

• People’s Choice Favorite Bagels

Our winning entry — the Vaca Frita Bagel Sandwich — combined our signature beer-fermented, hand-rolled bagel with slow-cooked flank steak, house-made Muhammara, Toum, and crispy tostones.

We appreciate the strong performances from all competitors and the support from the community who came out to taste, vote, and celebrate Sacramento’s growing food scene.

Thank you for choosing us — we’re excited for what’s ahead as we continue to represent Sacramento in its bagel renaissance.
